⚡ What Orange Really Means An orange USB port typically supports “Sleep-and-Charge” functionality, allowing you to charge devices like phones or tablets even when your computer is asleep or shut down. It often delivers USB 3.0 speeds of up to 5 Gbps, though in some cases it may be designated as charging-only. In short, it’s a port built for reliability when you need power without booting up your PC. 🧩 Not a Universal Standard Here’s the catch: USB colors aren’t officially standardized. The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) doesn’t enforce color coding, leaving manufacturers to adopt their own conventions. That means an orange port on one laptop might behave slightly differently on another. The safest bet? Check your device manual or test the port yourself—plug in a phone while the computer is off to see if it charges, or transfer a large file to gauge speed. 🎮 Why It Matters for Everyday Users Understanding these color cues can help you optimize your setup:
📌 The Takeaway An orange USB port is more than a splash of color—it’s a signal of extra power and convenience. As devices evolve, learning to decode these subtle differences can make your tech life smoother, faster, and more efficient. Bottom line: Next time you spot an orange USB port, think of it as your PC’s “always-on” lifeline—ready to keep your devices powered, even when the computer takes a break. Ep351 Image created by AI

This approach respects the need for people to check their devices while setting clear boundaries that prioritize in-person connection. 1. The Core Rule: Phones are "Parked"
2. Designated "Share Time" Breaks By scheduling a specific time for phone use, you transform the compulsive check-in into a shared, intentional activity. This directly addresses the "Fear of Missing Out" (FOMO).
This method teaches people to use their phones as a supplement to the experience rather than a shield against it. It keeps the core meal device-free and engaging while validating the reality of modern connectivity. Ep350 Image created by AI
How It Works
So basically, you don’t need a Google Nest device if your TV is on 😂 Ep348
How does it all work? If your phone and the caller’s phone are connected to the phone network via 4G or 5G, then your phone will receive an “invite” from the caller and it should ring. Why would it not ring?

If you’re a Mac user and you want to upgrade to a new iMac or MacBook, you can use several methods to get your data across and basically pick up where you left off and keep working. The easiest method is to use Migration Assistant.
Migration Assistant can also transfer from a Time Machine backup or transfer from a Windows PC.
This may take some time depending on how much data you need to transfer. Ep338 Image Source: Screenshot taken by MITE Radio
It’s actually really quick to do. In your open Window hover (top left) and you will see 3 buttons for Close, Minimise and Resize (Red, Orange and Green). It’s all about the Green button. On older Macs HOLD down the green button and then you can select which half of the screen to move the window to. You then select the second window to tile it to the opposite side. On newer Macs HOVERover the green button and you will see dedicated menu options (Tile, Slip to Left, Spit to Right) Ep334 Image Source: Screenshot taken by MITE Radio.
There are many contributing factors to phone temperature.
It could also be faulty (perhaps the battery). Both the Roku Express 4K+ and the Google Chromecast with Google TV are excellent streaming devices, but they offer different experiences.

Consider these factors when making your decision:
How Does it Work?
When your phone is plugged in and you enable bypass charging, the power from the charger is directly supplied to the phone's components, bypassing the battery. This reduces the number of charge-discharge cycles, which can accelerate battery degradation. Well I did some digging and found which phones support this feature:
If you’re in the market for a new phone, perhaps consider this feature in your criteria list. Ep269 Image: AI generated
Try using a different launcher maybe?
Image: https://niagaralauncher.app/ The Apple iOS update 18.2 has made some significant changes to system apps, especially Photos. You may feel like all your photos have moved, gone or you have multiple copies.
Well it’s most likely due to the new interface and the new way things are grouped and sorted. If you scroll down to the bottom of your default photos app screen there is a customise and reorder option button. When I plug in headphones, the sound still comes out of my speakers. Windows should ask or automatically set up headphones when you plug them in to an audio port on your PC or laptop. If not, try the volume control (speaker icon) in the system tray bottom right. Select sound output on the bottom right hand choose from the options. Hopefully you will see your headphones. In Windows Settings -> Keyboard you can play with repeat delay which might help.
If your keyboard is hard wired, it’s likely faulty, so get a new one - they are cheap enough. If it’s wireless or bluetooth:
So, you can buy a premium TV which has these connectors or get a Wii dongle from ebay, Temu, Aliexpress etc… You can get an adapter which plugs into the Wii and has a HDMI connector output which will go into most TVs. Both video and Audio are transmitted through the HDMI plug.
Great cheap option to keep the Wii alive. Image from https://www.nintendo.com/

How do I enable Gesture Navigation?
What is it? Navigating between apps on your phone can vary. The old way has 3 buttons or icons at the bottom of the screen. Arrow (back) circle (home) square (list apps) Gesture navigation uses Swipe (left-right) to go back Swipe up (home) Swipe Up and Hold (list apps) Takes a bit of getting used to but gestures are more efficient. How to turn it on? Settings -> system settings -> Navigation Settings (gesture navigation) There may be some customisation options and other gestures you can turn on so have a bit on an explore in that part of settings. Incidentally, newer Apple phones use the same gestures. I saw a notification for an Android update and tapped on it. Then it disappeared and nothing happened?
In most cases updates are handled in the background as they can be large and take time to download. You may see a notification (swipe down) showing a download in progress. Sometimes downloads don’t happen if you’re not on WiFi. Sometimes updates are paused until after a period of inactivity - maybe overnight. You should be able to check on the status Settings-> System -> Software Updates You can also trigger an update from here (if it didn’t start). Always good to do a phone restart after an update (if it didn’t happen automatically).

Is this worth reporting to a (?) government organisation? If so, who / what would that be? The scamwatch website has a reporting mechanism. You can also report a phishing attack on Outlook according to Microsoft. I won't send you the link 🥴, just google "report phishing outlook". Scammers may send emails with no links or content for several reasons:
Apple to Android
Same but choose from Apple Device then follow the prompts Android to Apple Same WiFi network Quick Start -> Setup Manually Apps & Data -> Move Data from Android Agree to terms Enter one time code wait… Apple to Apple Same WiFi network Quick Start -> choose from ->Download from iCloud ->Copy from other device Follow the prompts Wait… In all cases you will likely need to re-login to all you app accounts, so plan to have those passwords ready. Keep your old device for a couple of weeks - DO NOT FACTORY RESET until you’re sure you have all the data. You can access Youtube in a number of ways from your browser of choice or you can install an App on most devices. For example your TV may have a Youtube app which can be installed from an app store - be it Google (Android), Samsung, LG, Sony, etc… Like most apps, there are benefits which are often not available in the browser editions. That said, in some cases the reverse is also true.
Generally, if you can’t install an app, you can always use the browser. For TVs, you can always explore the option of casting from your phone, tablet, laptop or plugging in a HDMI cable. I would suggest you try both methods and see which will suit your purposes the best. This can vary depending on what you are trying to achieve. Ep255 Which is cheaper?
