Should I Turn Off Bluetooth?

You don't necessarily need to turn off Bluetooth all the time. Battery drain is very very small in idle mode.

Turn Bluetooth Off If:
  • You're not using it: If you don't have any Bluetooth devices connected (headphones, speaker, etc.) and aren't planning to connect any soon, then turning off Bluetooth is a good way to conserve a small amount of battery life.
  • You're concerned about security: While Bluetooth connections themselves are fairly secure these days, there is always a slight risk of someone hacking into your device through Bluetooth. If you're in a public place with a lot of unknown devices around, turning off Bluetooth can minimise that risk (although it's important to note this is a very low risk overall).
  • You're using another wireless technology: If you're actively using Wi-Fi or mobile data, then Bluetooth won't interfere with those connections. However, if you're concerned about battery life and aren't using any of these technologies, then turning off Bluetooth can be a good idea.
Keep Bluetooth On If:
  • You use Bluetooth devices frequently: If you regularly use headphones, speakers, or other Bluetooth devices, then it's more convenient to keep Bluetooth on so you can easily connect them.
  • You're using a fitness tracker or smartwatch: Many fitness trackers and smartwatches connect to your phone via Bluetooth. If you use one of these devices, then you'll need to keep Bluetooth on for them to function properly.
  • You're using certain features: Some features on your phone, such as Find My Device or car key replacements, may rely on Bluetooth. If you use these features, then you'll need to keep Bluetooth on.
