Microsoft has issued a warning about a bug affecting Windows 11 installations using media such as CDs and USB drives. This issue can prevent the operating system from receiving future security updates. If you’ve finally decided to upgrade your PC to Windows 11, maybe chill just a little bit longer… The Problem: The bug occurs specifically when using installation media for Windows 11, version 24H2, that includes security updates released between October 8th and November 12th, 2024. If you installed Windows 11 using media created during this period, your system might be unable to receive further security updates. What's Not Affected:
The Solution: Microsoft is actively working on a permanent fix. In the meantime, they strongly recommend using installation media that includes the December 2024 security update, which was released on December 10th. This will prevent any issues with future updates. In short: If you plan to install Windows 11, version 24H2, using a CD or USB drive, make sure your installation media includes the December 2024 security update to avoid potential problems down the line. If you've already installed Windows 11 using affected media, you should be able to update normally through Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog. Ep277 Image created by AI
