You get a free virus scanner in Windows - Windows Defender. It is very basic but better than nothing.
Depending on your general computing use case and internet habits, different virus scanning software can be better for you.

Do some review searching on Google
Look for something that is good value and light of system resources. 
Other niceties like:

• letting you know when devices connect to your network
• blocks malware on webpages automatically.
• Quiet updates and not annoying generally - unless there’s a virus it can’t deal with.
