Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event at CES showcased a range of new products, but a smaller announcement could be a game-changer for anyone who frequently misplaces their TV remote. Samsung has unveiled new ways to control its 2025 TVs using your Samsung smartphone or Galaxy Watch. If you have your Samsung smartphone nearby, controlling your TV is now easier than ever. A new feature called Quick Remote automatically detects your Samsung TV and instantly turns your phone into a remote control. No more fumbling for the physical remote; your phone will seamlessly take over. But the truly impressive innovation involves the Samsung Galaxy Watch. By using the watch's built-in accelerometer, you can now control your TV with simple hand gestures. Moving your hand navigates the on-screen menus, pinching your fingers together selects an item, making a fist goes back, and making a double fist returns you to the home screen. The watch essentially reads the movements of your wrist and translates them into commands for the TV. This gesture control is similar to Apple's double-tap feature on the Apple Watch, but with a key difference: instead of controlling the watch itself, these gestures control a separate device—your TV. This opens up a whole new way of interacting with your entertainment system, offering a convenient and futuristic control method when the remote is nowhere to be found.
