Pinch to Zoom in Google Photos

Zoom in on your photo thumbnails to make the bigger (incrementally)

If you have a photo open on your phone in Google Photos or tap to open one, try zooming out and you will see where it comes from in your collection by day, week, month, location, etc…

If you start in your photo album where you see lots of tiled thumbnails you can zoom in to look at groupings and, keep zooming to eventually target a photo to zoom in on… and you can go backwards to zoom out to the thumbnail view.

Have a play and you’ll see what I mean.

One more quick tip. Tap the ellipses 3 dots top right and choose from Layout options to see similar results as the pinch and zoom:
