Passkeys with Google

Google has taken a significant step towards a passwordless future by simplifying the process of using passkeys across multiple devices. 

Passkeys, which rely on biometrics or screen lock functionality, offer a more secure and convenient alternative to traditional passwords.

Previously, using passkeys on different devices required scanning QR codes. Now, Google has integrated passkeys directly into the Google Password Manager, allowing for seamless syncing across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

To use passkeys on a new device:

1. Enter your Google Password Manager PIN or screen lock: This verifies your identity and grants access to your saved passkeys.
2. Sync Passkeys: The saved passkeys will automatically sync across all devices linked to your Google account.

Google's introduction of a Password Manager PIN adds an extra layer of security, ensuring that your passkeys remain protected from unauthorised access.
With these improvements, using passkeys becomes even more convenient and secure. As passkey technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see a wider adoption of this passwordless future.
