A bakery in Indiana is making headlines for its unique approach to running its business: they're still using Commodore 64 computers as cash registers.

Hilligoss Bakery in Brownsburg, Indiana, has been using these retro machines, originally released in 1982, for years. A photo of the C64s in action recently went viral, drawing attention to this charmingly old-school setup.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The bakery, which has been serving the community since 1974, has found that the Commodore 64s perfectly suit their needs for basic point-of-sale transactions. These computers, famous for their accessible price and popular games like Snake, are more than capable of handling tasks like calculating totals and printing receipts.

A Nostalgic Touch
The use of these vintage computers has become a talking point for customers, adding to the bakery's unique charm. Hilligoss Bakery has received positive reviews online, with many customers mentioning the C64s as part of their experience.

A Practical Decision
While many businesses feel pressured to constantly upgrade their technology, Hilligoss Bakery has demonstrated the practicality of sticking with what works. Why spend money on new equipment when the old reliable machines are still doing the job? It's a cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach.
The bakery's use of Commodore 64s is a testament to the enduring functionality of these classic computers and a reminder that sometimes, the best solutions are the simplest ones.
